SUMMER: Your Chance to Re-Invent/Enhance Yourself

Everyone is excited it’s the summer, time for you to hang out with friends, family, take vacations or even stay-cations. A lot of people could see the summer as the time for them to now have to “do anything” instead just Netflix and chill all day, wake up anytime they would like etc. While these are okay and might be thought of as break especially considering that during the school semester all you do is study really does not help you. You have the see the summer periods as a time to invest in yourself, time to deposit amazing opportunities into your life’s bank account (Yes, we seriously just used this as an analogy that’s all we could think of to show the importance of it). Here are 3 things you can do to enhance yourself this summer. Sure, there are more but here are our 3 for now.

1.      FITNESS
Okay we do not mean this in a condescending or shallow way; we know that everyone has their definition of being fit, however this is your chance to start, do more, or simply change that exercise. Attend new yoga, pilates, cycling classes. Or even try incorporating weightlifting into your workout regimen, increase your normal weights for bench-pressing, the list goes on. The take away here is to do something that safely pushes your physical limit and gets you to contest your fears.

2.      SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS
This summer take the time to read about new things that could help advance you in life. Somethings to read could be about how to start using your college major to work for you. Work on your weak areas like eliminating procrastination, working on your time management skills, learning new ways to interact with strangers, not being judgmental etc. Hey, we can even throw in figuring out what classes to take for the upcoming semester and reading up on them. Or researching the best teacher to take and organizing how you plan on studying when school starts. Another will be learning how to communicate effectively! If you are not able to properly communicate across your thoughts, feelings or your opinions in a manner that is easily understood you stand the chance of being frustrated often.
PRO TIP: Think of a toddler and how would you communicate whatever it is you have to say to a toddler, if you master this you can practically communicate to anyone on any level.

3.      CREATIVITY
Being creative today is extremely important because your ability to be creative displays your level of thinking and your ability to think outside of the box. Try learning a new instrument as this will force your brain to think differently and will translate into your studies to give you a better understanding of things. On the plus side you can now impress your friends with a new musical instrument you learned in just 3 months. Visit art galleries and museums and learn about the different paintings and sculptures and what they represent. This will give you more insight outside your normal world and will help you engage in intelligent conversations with people. Connect with other people from other countries and learn about their culture. Start with learning about their language and the different ways to communicate with authority figures, parents and their peers. Write songs that mean something to you (you do not have to sing them if you do not know how to sing), simply learn how to write songs that could be sung that will impact people.
