How To Ace Your College Classes
How to Ace Your College Classes ✔✔
Most of us were able to skim by in high school; but college? College is a whole new ballgame. It’s not just that the classes are harder (they are) or that there is a ton more information to learn (there is) but you are also given this incredible new freedom. Without self-discipline to go to class every week and stay on top of the homework that is no longer an actual requirement, you could easily start seeing lower numbers on your exams than you are likely to be seeing in your bank account! Here are a few quick ways to ensure you are on the track to making straight A’s!
1. SKIP THE 8AM CLASSES.
It may seem like a great idea to take 8am classes and be done every day by noon; but unless you are automatically an early morning person you are going to
find it difficult to be on time, alert and ready to absorb all the information being thrown at you. Take advantage of the fact you can choose your own schedule and take classes during times you are at your peak!
2. FIND A HOME IN THE LIBRARY.
Studying in your dorm room (or anywhere for that matter) is great, but there is something about being surrounded by books and other people knuckling down that makes for quicker completion of work and more absorption of the material.
3. DON’T WAIT UNTIL LAST MINUTE.
When you only have class once or twice a week, it can be hard not to wait a few days to look back over the material. The truth is, the sooner you review the work you learned; the more likely you are to retain it. Go over a little bit each day – if only for a few minutes. All night-ers are NOT fun!
4. FIND A STUDY BUDDY.
Doing anything with a friend is more fun – even studying. Everyone retains information differently and it will be beneficial for both of you to be able to throw ideas back and forth with each other. You are also more likely to keep planned study sessions than if you just planned to study alone!
5. GO TO REVIEW SESSIONS.
You might think they seem “lame” or not necessary, but your teacher will be giving you practically every question they are going to ask on a test! Why would you show up on the day of the exam without any clue what will be asked when you could have been given all of that information ahead of time?
When it’s all said and done, college will be one of the greatest times in your life! You will look back on great memories with great new friends – but your top priority is to study hard so you can look back on all of that from the comfort of your own office in your high paying job that you nailed right after graduation!
